Editor’s Note: Having a strong desire to conquer the world and armed with its vast financial recourses, Beijing has started a foreign influence campaign that has swept across countries coveting the massive opportunities from the lucrative Chinese markets– including Canada. According to the Globe article, a large influx of immigrants to Canada have made overseas Chinese in the country increasingly the futile ground of Beijing’s united-front operations, which are poised to turn the diaspora into China’s nationalist force. Under Beijing’s influence, a growing number of political candidates from the Chinese community have enjoyed electoral success at the ballot box, and more Chinese politicians at different levels of the Canadian government have been exposed to the political pressure of Beijing.
