中英对照：川普微信禁令是华人社区的福音

《大中报》的新闻编辑部与微信发布员经常就在WeChat上发布新闻报道而发生争执。”这则消息我们不能发！”发布员常常下此命令。“这条新闻一旦出现在WeChat上就会立即遭到屏蔽，长此以往，我们的公众号就会被封号！”

"No, we can't publish this story through our WeChat account! It will get censored by WeChat authorities, and we may lose the official account if we post it." The conversation between the newsroom of this paper and our WeChat distributor has become increasingly common, as the Chinese authority heightens its censorship efforts on WeChat.

作为海外华裔人手必备的WeChat，自其粉墨登场之后就很快成为1.5亿海外用户的新闻和消息来源。对于那些英语程度有限的大陆新移民，WeChat是他们获取各种重大新闻，政治观点和时事评论的唯一信息来源。

As an everyday mobile app for overseas Chinese, WeChat quickly soared into a news service provider for overseas Chinese users of 150 million since its inception. For newcomers from China with limited English proficiency, it has become the only information source that provides coverage on breaking news, political opinions, and current affairs.
  
WeChat 公众号以及其逾1000万个包括多伦多华人媒体在内的官方账户都沦为中国政府进行各种虚假宣传的理想平台。中共不断向海外华文媒体施加压力，迫使其与中国政府合作，令其成为海外其政治攻势的传声筒。虽然包括《大中报》在内的少数几家试图将民主和自由价值观带给华人社区，但这些媒体却面临着中共政府的封锁和打压。

The WeChat Moment and it's over 10 million public official accounts – including the ones registered by local Chinese language media in Toronto – have turned into perfect platforms for Beijing's disinformation and propaganda campaigns. Beijing has increasingly pressured Chinese language media to cooperate and turn into the disseminating channels for its operations. A few media outlets striving to bring the value of democracy and freedom to the community– including Chinese News --face Beijing's censorship and crackdown.



除了严格控制舆论自由之外，中国政府还通过微信平台散布大量虚假信息和煽动性言论，目的是通过左右海外华裔的视听，影响其思维来控制操纵国外华裔群体。中共还试图唤起海外侨民对共产党的忠诚，并同时极力控制他们的民主信念和愿望。其具体手段包括集艺术和爱国教育为一身，通过歌曲，电影，和录像充分激发其爱国激情，以达到骗取他们对党、国家和政府的忠诚之目的。

Apart from its efforts to control free speech, Beijing has flushed the platform with misinformation and inflammatory content to shape users' perceptions, intending to control the overseas diaspora and make them do its bidding. They tried to stoke their loyalty to the CCP while undermining their beliefs in democracy. Beijing's tactics include the massive display of patriotism through songs, movies, and short videos that instill patriotic zeal – to gain the allegiance of overseas Chinese to their home country's government and the political party.

中共政权还向西方国家和民主阵营展开心理战术，而虚假信息是挑动恐惧和不满的有力武器。在多伦多华人圈内流传的一则假新闻称，自从渥太华不再要求墨西哥人入境出示签证以来，有数百名来自墨西哥的毒品贩子涌入加拿大。在一名叙利亚难民因谋杀12岁华人女孩申小雨被定罪后，带有种族色彩的煽动性言论和文章在微信上广泛流传，激起华裔对穆斯林的强烈恐惧和愤慨。在爆出一名穆斯林女孩谎称曾遭中国男人袭击的消息后，许多愤怒的大陆新移民走上街头，抗议特鲁多的移民政策。而他们有所不知，这种对加国多元文化和民主制度的攻击恰恰是中了中共控制下的微信爪牙们的奸计。

Disinformation is the regime's psychological warfare to spark fear and resentment against Western countries and democracy. Fake news on WeChat alleged hundreds of Mexican drug dealers were flooding into Canada since Ottawa stopped requiring visas for Mexican. Comments and stories on WeChat in the aftermath of a few incidents -- including a Syrian refugee convicted for murdering 12-year-old Chinese girl Shen XiaoYu, sparked racial tensions, inflaming rage and anger of Chinese against Muslims. After the news broke that a Muslim girl lied about being attacked by a Chinese man, Many Chinese newcomers walked on the street protesting against Trudeau's immigration policy. The attacks on Canada's multiculturalism and democracy played well into the hands of WeChat trolls controlled by China.



毋庸置疑，微信为帮助中共建立一支海外白痴大军立下汗马功劳。这些被中共洗脑的大陆移民挥舞中国国旗，高唱祖国国歌，高呼中共口号。他们拥护的是一个侵犯人权的专制政府，而反对的却是一个旨在保护其自由和权利的民主制度。

Undoubtedly, WeChat earns the credit for creating an army of CCP's brainwashed puppets who wave China's flags, sing the Chinese national anthem, and parrot the CCP party lines. They embrace a rights-abusing authoritarian regime while standing against the democracy systems designed to protect their freedom.

好消息是，川普政府最近宣布将很快禁止微信和Tiktok在美国的运营。虽然该禁令可能引发一些法律争议，但却有助于限制中共在海外的影响力，抵制其媒体审查制度和对言论自由的控制，并阻止其虚假信息传播。微信禁令能促使像《大中报》这样的独立媒体更加有效地运作，将真实信息和民主价值观带回社区。无疑，微信禁令对加拿大华裔社区是一个福音。

The good news is that the Trump administration recently announced it would soon ban WeChat and Tiktok from operating in the US. While the ban may spark some legal controversy, it will help restrict Beijing's disinformation and censorship operation, limiting its influence and efforts to control free speech.  It will allow independent media like Chinese News to function more effectively, bringing credible information and democratic values back to the community. Undoubtedly, the WeChat ban is a boon to the Chinese Canadian community.
