Guanxi's practice breeds favoritism, nepotism, and corruption, which is morally contemptible in a society valuing talent, equal opportunity, and fair competition. It is concerning that Guanxi culture has increasingly found its way into the Liberal government contract award process, as a series of shocking controversies involving the Liberal leaders revealed – from the WE Charity scandal to the latest exposure of Mary Ng's ethics breach.
